Residential Locating in Gippsland
Find out what's under your yard before you dig
Digging at Home?
Most home projects involve some digging, whether it's fence posts, a retaining wall, a shed slab or a new garden bed. There can be power, water, gas, phone and stormwater lines running anywhere under a yard. Hitting one can mean an expensive repair or a serious injury.
We'll come out to find what's under the ground where you want to dig, then mark it with paint so you and your builder know where it's safe to go.

What Before You Dig Plans Show
The first step is a free enquiry with Before You Dig Australia (BYDA), where the utility companies send you plans of their pipes and cables near your property.
Those plans usually stop at your boundary or meter. Anything past that point is private and belongs to you, such as the power to your shed, the water pipe to the house, stormwater and sewer drains, irrigation and the gas line to the house. Private services aren't shown on BYDA plans, so they have to be found on site by a locator.
MAC Locating are BYDA certified locators with over 25 years of experience across Gippsland.
What Happens When We Come Out
Show us where you're planning to dig, whether it's a fence line, a shed site or the whole backyard.
We trace the pipes and cables with an electronic locator, using ground penetrating radar for plastic pipes when it's needed.
We mark each service on the ground with paint so you can see exactly where it runs.
We walk you through what we found and explain what each mark means, so you know where it's safe to dig.
